PRIVACY

Everyone wants to know
these days about privacy. Jennifer Aniston can't go
out anywhere without getting into a fight with picture takers.
Movie stars can't get married without getting their picture
taken by noisy reporters. And most of all the goverment
is always trying to get all the information on us. Where
does this leave privacy. Do we really have such a thing
or did we forfeit privacy despite the escalating need to protect
against computer crime and explicit agreement to forfeit privacy
in exchange for this protection. (Kesler 91)
Do parents have the rights
to spy on they're kids on the internet. NO. Do
they have the right to look up to see what websites they're
kids have been on. NO. Do they have the right
to look through saved IMs. NO. Do they have the
right to say they're kids can't get on the internet past 9.
NO. That is the basic rule of privacy, that you can't
do those things.
Can parents look through they're kids bookbag. NO.
Do they have the right to read a notebook you leave lying
around. NO. Can they call the school to see how
they're kid is doing. NO. These are all invasons
of privacy and can't be done.
Sometimes parents have to understand that a kid needs to learn
things for themself. You can't always spy on them.
Can parents listen to they're kids phone calls. NO.
Can parents say who they're kid can or can't talk to.
NO. Can parents say they're kid can't call anyone after
9. NO. Can parents refuse to give they're kid
a cellphone. NO. This country was started with
freedom in mind and now some people want to take it all away.
You can't do that.
Can parents listen to they're kids cds to see if they're nasty.
NO. Can parents say you can't go see a R movie.
NO. Can parents tell you what to do all the time.
NO. Because of privacy.
If we don't have privacy, why are we in america. This
is the best country so everyone needs to act like it and treat
they're kids like individuals and not little kids.
