THE POWER OF LOVE

ok before I even start Mrs. Fletcher, you have to promise you won't show this to anybody.  If anybody found out that me the captain of the varsity basketball team was writing about love, I would never be able to walk on the court again.

If you want us to write about something we really love, then I would have to write about love.  I love basketball and I love Jessica Simpson, but that is nothing compared to how real love feels.  I am not going with anybody right now, but I've gone with three girls in the last year and each one of them made me feel really special.  It's the kind of feeling where I'm sitting around and I think of them and it just fills my heart with emotion and it makes me want to go outside and shoot some basketball in the spring air just to get my blood pumping.  Do you know what I mean?  That's how you know it is love... when it makes you want to get up and do something.

How do you show it?  I know other guys buy flowers and CD's and tell their girls that they look good, but I like to write notes.  (PLEASE don't show this to anybody)  I know notes are a girley thing, but I love to write sweet things in notes and then fold them up.  And the feeling you get when you get a note from a girl... there is no way to describe it.  Before you open it, you are so nervous about what it says, and then you read it and it's got little things that let you know how she feels even if she tries to hide it... it is incredible!
I guess we are only in high school and so probably I'm not going to marry any girl I go with here, but I think every young person should experience love in high school.  It's kind of like practice.  But it's a lot funner than basketball practice!  You don't have to run suicides anyway.

There is this girl I like right now but she doesn't know it.  She is in this class too.  You probably guessed that it is Quinn.  I think about her all the time and when I think of her I can't think of anything else.  I know she likes me but that doesn't make it any easier to talk to her.  I want to tell her about how I think her hair looks so good and how I would be in heaven if I could just hold her hand.  I think we would be a good couple.  I would treat her good.
So that is what I love... love.

(teacher's comment:  "Jason-- tell Quinn how you feel. She will melt in your eyes, trust me!" )
