Dinosaurs-- Extinct?
For my
science project, the topic that I have decided to do is one
that I am very intrested in-- dinosaurs and what destroyed
them.
What this
comes down to is that I am trying to show how the dinosaurs
came to be extinct and remake this in a controled enviroment.
Here are the steps that I followed to make this happen:
1. I took
1 shoebox, filled it with dirt/soil.
2. I
found a bunch of bugs/insects of all sorts and placed them
carefully in the soil.
3. Placed
the box full of bugs/insects onto the ground below the
deck beside my house.
4. I went
up on my deck and took 1 large rock (the largest
I could find that would fit in the shoe box, this was the
comet).
5. I dropped
the comet from the top of my deck. It fell SO HARD down
into the shoebox.
6. The comet exploded into
the dirt (this represented the comet exploding into
the dirt of the earth).
7. I took the
box into the house and took a hairdryer and blew it into the
shoebox to represent the heat blast that would have come
from the comet but it was not quite hot enough the bugs
just seemed to be made comfortble by this so I took the
box and put it into the microwave and turned it
on high for at least 3 mins., maybe more.
8. After
I had blasted the bugs/dinousaurs with heatwaves from the
comet, the ice age was of course close to follow
so I put the shoebox with the bugs/dinosaurs into the
freezer over night because the ice age lasted about
a million or so years so I figured to make it scale
that it should be left in there for good long while anyway.
9. After
the box had been in the freezer overnight I took it out
and examined the box carefully.
10. None
of the bugs had survived as far as I could tell. They did
not move an inch.
11. Therefore,
I can say with confidence that none of the dinousaurs
survived the comet blast or ice age. This was drawn from
the dead bugs. Therefore it is my conclusion that
the dinousaurs are all dead.
